MUSCAT: The Royal Oman Police has warned the public against firing celebratory gunshots during social and religious occasions, stressing that the practice violates the country’s weapons regulations and poses significant risks to public safety.
In a public awareness message, the police said that firing live ammunition during celebrations, gatherings, or events is considered a violation of Oman’s Weapons and Ammunition Law under Royal Decree No. 36/90.
Authorities highlighted that celebratory gunfire can result in serious accidents, as stray bullets may fall unpredictably and cause injuries or fatalities, in addition to damaging property.

The Royal Oman Police urged citizens and residents to refrain from such practices and to comply with the law to ensure the safety and security of the community.
The warning forms part of ongoing efforts by the Royal Oman Police to raise public awareness about unsafe practices and promote responsible behaviour during social and cultural celebrations across the Sultanate.
