MUSCAT : The TRA announced significant growth across Oman’s telecommunications and postal sectors between 2021 and 2025, with mobile subscriptions rising to 6.42 million and total sector revenues reaching an estimated RO 961 million in 2025.
During a media briefing held in Muscat, the Authority reviewed its key achievements over the past five years, highlighting notable expansion in digital infrastructure, service coverage and sector localization.



According to the TRA, mobile subscriptions in the Sultanate increased by 7 percent over the five-year period, reaching 6.42 million. Internet of Things (IoT) subscriptions recorded the highest growth, surging by 358 percent to 1.632 million subscriptions. Fixed broadband subscriptions rose by 14 percent, while the number of fifth-generation (5G) stations expanded by 189 percent, reflecting rapid deployment of advanced network infrastructure.
The Authority also reported substantial progress in broadband coverage. By the end of 2025, high-speed fixed broadband services covered 67 percent of residential units across the Sultanate. Coverage of government schools with online connectivity reached 100 percent, while 97 percent of schools were equipped with high-speed fixed broadband services.
Financial indicators showed strong performance in both sectors. Total telecommunications sector revenues in 2025 were estimated at approximately RO 961 million, representing a 25 percent increase compared to previous years. In the postal services sector, revenues of 87 licensed companies rose by 81 percent to reach RO 29.5 million.
Omanisation rates also remained strong, reaching 94 percent in the telecommunications sector and 73 percent in the postal services sector, underscoring continued efforts to strengthen national workforce participation.
The TRA further revealed that 843 projects were launched under the ‘Nafath’ initiative in the telecommunications and postal sectors through 2025, with a total value of RO 29.2 million. Of this amount, RO 1.8 million comprised purchase orders awarded to small and medium enterprises owned by entrepreneurship cardholders.
On the regulatory front, the Authority recorded approximately 183 violations against companies operating in both sectors, with total fines amounting to RO 1.042 million.
