MUSCAT : The announcement, issued in coordination with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion and the Sector Skills Unit for the Industrial Sector, applies to the list of professions operating in industrial establishments. The Ministry confirmed that applications for professional classification certificates and practice licenses will open on February 9, 2026, with mandatory enforcement beginning on May 1, 2026.
The Ministry of Labour stressed that it will not issue or renew work permits for the professions included in the approved schedule unless the required professional certificate or license is obtained after the enforcement date. This applies to both Omani and expatriate workers.
All employees in the targeted professions are required to complete the accreditation procedures through the Ministry’s electronic system. Establishments have been urged to take immediate action to ensure compliance within the specified timeframe to avoid disruptions to employment and operational activities.
Under the professional classification track, the system will apply to the following occupations: Factory Manager, Operations Manager, Production of Transformational Industries Manager, Maintenance Manager, Analytical Chemist, Operations Analyst, Advertising Specialist, Ceramic Artist, Operational Risk Analyst, Measuring Devices Electronics Technician, Production Mechanical Technician, Welding Mechanical Technician, General Chemical Technician, Paint Industry Technician, Factories Installation Technician, and Graphic Designer.
The professional licensing track will cover Plastic Extruding Machines Operator, Food Industry Chemist, Food Industry Technician, Stone and Marble Cutting and Sawing Worker, Plastic Injection Machines Operator, Plastic Bags Production Line Worker, Furniture Carpenter, and Stone and Marble Lathe Operator.
The Ministry of Labour urges all concerned establishments to comply with the above and take the necessary steps to ensure the system’s implementation within the specified timeframe. Registration Link: www.mol.gov.om
