MUSCAT : The initiative reflects the municipality’s commitment to developing municipal operations, enhancing service quality, and promoting governance and institutional excellence.
The decision aims to establish clear and approved standards for evaluating municipal performance and measure adherence to these standards. The evaluation process is expected to improve the quality of municipal services and achieve higher efficiency and effectiveness.
The committee’s responsibilities include developing evaluation criteria, planning field visits, documenting observations, data, and images, analysing performance results, and preparing quarterly reports, culminating in a final annual report to be submitted to the head of Dhofar Municipality. It will also identify outstanding wilayat municipalities based on the annual results, in preparation for official recognition and awards.
Dhofar Municipality emphasised that the committee’s decisions are technical and non-binding, designed to support continuous improvement, facilitate the exchange of best practices, and encourage healthy competition among municipalities and wilayats. The approach is expected to positively impact the level of services provided to citizens and residents.
This initiative aligns with Dhofar Municipality’s vision to enhance institutional performance, integrate municipal work, and elevate service standards, supporting the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
