MUSCAT — Oman’s Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology is moving ahead with the Al Amerat Tunnel and Road Project, a major infrastructure initiative aimed at improving connectivity between the Wilayat of Al Amerat and the Wilayat of Dima W’attayeen, a senior official said.

His Excellency Eng. Khamis Mohammed Al Shamakhi, Undersecretary for Transport at MTCIT said the project, which connects the Wilayat of Al Amerat with Dima W’attayeen, is among several strategic infrastructure initiatives being implemented under the government’s investment programme.

“This is one of the investment projects that have been put out to tender, and the Ministry is in the process of receiving and reviewing these bids,” he informed.

Al Shamakhi added that lighting works on the Al Batinah Expressway will be completed once remaining supplementary works are finalised.

Separately, the ministry has floated a tender for the lighting of Sultan Turki bin Saeed Road, with operations expected to begin in the first half of 2026, according to Al Shamakhi.
