Muscat – His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik issued three royal decrees on Sunday ratifying international agreements with Iraq, Indonesia and the United Kingdom, according to the official gazette, reinforcing the Sultanate’s push to deepen economic cooperation, ease mobility and strengthen diplomatic ties.
Under Royal Decree No. 105/2025, the Sultan ratified an agreement between the Government of the Sultanate of Oman and the Government of the Republic of Iraq aimed at avoiding double taxation and preventing tax evasion with respect to taxes on income and capital. The agreement is designed to provide greater clarity and protection for individuals and businesses operating between the two countries, encouraging cross-border investment and economic activity.
Royal Decree No. 106/2025 approved an agreement between Oman and Indonesia on the mutual exemption of visa requirements for holders of diplomatic, special and service passports. The measure is expected to facilitate official travel and enhance cooperation between the two countries across diplomatic and governmental channels.

In a third move, Royal Decree No. 107/2025 ratified an agreement between Oman and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland concerning the issuance of work permits for spouses of official employees. The agreement allows eligible spouses of diplomats and official staff to seek employment in the host country, a step seen as strengthening bilateral relations and improving conditions for diplomatic missions.
