SALALAH : The Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Iraq on Wednesday signed two agreements and 24 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) aimed at enhancing cooperation across a wide range of sectors. The signing ceremony took place in Salalah in the presence of His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Shiaa Al-Sudani, Prime Minister of Iraq, and His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defense Affairs.

The agreements signed between the two sides focused on avoiding double taxation and preventing tax evasion on income and capital, as well as mutual visa exemptions for holders of diplomatic, special, and service passports.

In addition, the 24 MoUs covered numerous fields, most notably energy, industry, tourism, communications, youth, sports, higher education, scientific research, housing, urban planning, radio and television, transportation, logistics, stock exchange, capital markets, banking supervision, financial stability, localization of defense industries, and oil storage.

The signing of these agreements reflects the shared commitment of Oman and Iraq to strengthen bilateral relations and create new opportunities for partnership. The wide scope of cooperation is expected to enhance economic integration, support development, and foster greater people-to-people exchange between the two brotherly nations.
