MUSCAT : The case involved discrepancies in the specifications of custom-made gold jewellery that had been agreed upon between the consumer and the store.
According to case details, the consumer had entered into an agreement with a jewellery store specialising in gold, silver, and gemstones to craft bespoke pieces based on specific measurements and designs, with a total order value of RO 6,615. The consumer paid an advance of RO 3,200.
However, upon inspecting the final product, the consumer found that the gold carat and engravings did not match the agreed specifications. This led him to file a complaint with the CPA.
Upon investigation and verification by the Authority’s specialists, the consumer’s claims were found to be valid. Accordingly, the CPA contacted the supplier and took necessary legal actions in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, which ultimately resulted in a full refund of the amount paid.
The Consumer Protection Authority reaffirms its continued efforts in following up such cases to ensure consumer rights are safeguarded.
