MUSCAT – The initiative follows a recent survey seeking public feedback on the service, which aims to streamline the process and improve accessibility.
In a series of awareness posts, the Governorate posed: “Were you involved in a traffic accident that caused damage to the road?” In response, it stated: “Now you can request an assessment of the damages resulting from the accident and obtain a certified technical report with the costs with ease and convenience.”
The Governorate emphasised that individuals involved in accidents that cause damage to public road infrastructure, such as street lighting, traffic signs, and road barriers, can now submit a request online to assess the damage and obtain a certified technical report with repair costs.

The service is available via the Muscat Municipality’s electronic portal (www.mm.gov.om), and allows users to submit their application along with a material damage assessment form issued by the Royal Oman Police. This document is a prerequisite for processing compensation claims.
Once submitted, the request is reviewed by a specialised team. A technical inspection is then conducted at the accident site, followed by a detailed report that outlines the scope of the damage and the associated repair costs.
Damages covered by the service:
• Street lighting poles
• Traffic signs and signals
• Asphalt and concrete barriers
• Metal barriers and shock-absorbing barriers
• Irrigation systems and plants
• Road markings and side barriers
To be eligible, the accident must have occurred on a public road, not on private property or land owned by specific entities. If the damage involves traffic signals or street lighting, the Royal Oman Police report must be specifically addressed to the Director of the Lighting and Traffic Control Department.
Steps to apply:
- Submit the application via the official Muscat Municipality website, attaching the required police-issued assessment form.
- Application review by the relevant department.
- Site inspection and repairs conducted by a technical team.
- Report issuance, detailing damage and costs.
