MUSCAT – This decision is based on the Veterinary Quarantine Law issued by Royal Decree No. 45/2004, its Executive Regulations under Ministerial Resolution No. 107/2008, and recommendation from the competent veterinary authority to impose the ban. The measure serves to protect public health and animal safety.
The decision stipulates that the import of live birds, their products, derivatives, and offal from Extremadura is banned until the reasons for the ban are resolved and an official decision is issued.
Exceptions apply to products, derivatives, and offal that have been heat-treated or prepared according to the standards set by the Terrestrial Animal Health Code of the International Office of Epizootics (OIE) and the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH).
The decision shall be implemented by relevant authorities who are responsible for enforcing it within their respective jurisdictions.
