MUSCAT – The Ministry stated that it has recently detected the circulation of a fraudulent ‘ministerial statement’ being used to promote fictitious online stores falsely claiming official registration in Oman. This deceptive tactic is part of a wider electronic fraud scheme targeting consumers.
The Ministry clarified that it has not issued any such statement and urged the public to exercise caution. Consumers are advised to only engage with online stores that are officially licensed through the Oman Business Platform and verified on the Maroof Oman platform.
The Ministry also highlighted the importance of verifying that the contact details provided by online stores match those listed in the official commercial register, to avoid falling victim to scams.
