MUSCAT : Oman’s standing as a trusted international partner and its investment in ports can support efforts to strengthen maritime resilience, Asyad Shipping’s chief executive and a British House of Lords member said.
Speaking exclusively to The Arabian Stories on the sidelines of the Muscat Maritime Resilience Forum 2026, Dr. Ibrahim Al Nadhairi, CEO of Asyad Shipping, said the gathering should produce recommendations that secure broad support across the international maritime industry.
“Oman, as you rightly said, is a trusted party amongst all different players in the international community,” Al Nadhairi said.

He said the priority was to develop recommendations that would guide the future implementation of a maritime resilience framework and ensure proposals were acceptable to industry stakeholders.
The range of experts and think tanks participating in the forum offered an opportunity to draw on collective experience, he added.
In a separate exclusive interview with The Arabian Stories, Lord Christopher Geidt, a member of the UK House of Lords, highlighted Oman’s investment in port infrastructure while cautioning against anticipating the forum’s conclusions.
“We don’t want to prejudge what the outcomes of the Resilience Forum are, but Oman has significant assets, including the investment that it has made in these ports,” Geidt said.
He said those assets could support the maritime community through commerce and assistance in neighbouring waters and the Indian Ocean, on which Oman’s trade depends.
The two-day forum, hosted by Asyad Group on October 27–28, brought together maritime executives, academics and industry experts to examine supply chain disruptions and ways to strengthen international shipping networks.
Organised in partnership with Oman’s Foreign Ministry, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, and the Oman Investment Authority, the gathering is intended to inform the development of the proposed Muscat Maritime Resilience Framework.
