Oman’s Sur Industrial City attracts chemical industry project worth over RO 9.6 million

Sur Industrial City, part of the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates – Madayn, has signed an investment agreement with Al Ghaith Industries Company to establish a trichlorosilane production plant.

MUSCAT – The new facility will be constructed on a 20,000-square-meter plot, with a total investment exceeding RO 9.6 million (approximately USD 25 million).


This project is a value-added project that will enhance the growth of the chemical and energy industries sector. It will localise industries that rely on modern technologies and provide a range of job opportunities for Omani cadres.


Engineer Nasser bin Hamoud Al Mabsali, Director General of Sur Industrial City, said that the project opens new horizons in developing the high-purity silicon industry and is a cornerstone in the renewable energy and electronics industries. He added that the project represents an added value to the South Al Sharqiyah Governorate in general and the industrial city in particular.


For his part, Eng. Al-Mamoun Al Badani, CEO of Al Ghaith Chemical Industries, explained that the trichlorosilane plant represents a qualitative shift in the chemical industry in the Sultanate of Oman, noting that commercial production is expected to begin at the end of the first quarter of 2027.
