Gold prices glimmer as U.S. President Trump’s tax bill boosts market confidence

Gold prices held steady as investor sentiment brightened following the approval of former U.S. President Donald Trump’s tax and spending cuts bill in Congress.

WASHINGTON: Spot gold settled at $3,328.36 per ounce, marking a 1.7% rise over the week. The rally reflects growing market confidence, buoyed by the fiscal stimulus implications of the approved bill. However, US gold futures dipped slightly, falling 0.1% to $3,337.90 per ounce.

Among other precious metals, spot silver slipped by 0.3% to $36.73 per ounce. Meanwhile, platinum climbed 0.8% to $1,378.30, and palladium edged up 0.1% to $1,137.94.
