Muscat – In an official statement, the department confirmed that the latest analysis issued by the National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Center shows no indication of a dust wave impacting Oman.
The clarification comes amid rumours claiming a dust storm is moving from the Islamic Republic of Iran towards the coastal areas of the Sea of Oman, potentially reducing horizontal visibility. Oman Meteorology has urged the public to rely only on official sources for accurate weather updates.
The rumour, which has been making social media rounds, stated the following:
“Oman Meteorology Department issues a warning of a dust storm coming from the Islamic Republic of Iran toward the coastal areas of the Sea of Oman. This may reduce horizontal visibility in the coming hours.”
