Muscat – His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik received two important phone calls—one from German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and another from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan—discussing the rapidly evolving regional situation and the urgent need for coordinated international action.

Concurrently, high-level Omani-German talks were held in Muscat, underscoring the shared commitment to diplomatic dialogue and conflict resolution. The event included an exceptional meeting between His Excellency Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and his German counterpart Dr Johann Wadephul, who was visiting Muscat.

Discussions addressed the tense situation in the region due to the ongoing Israeli attacks on the Islamic Republic of Iran, which targeted vital sovereign facilities and resulted in numerous deaths and injuries. Talks also focused on the ongoing brutal destruction, violence, displacement, and genocide in the Gaza Strip.

The meeting featured consultation and exchange of views, with His Excellency Sayyid Badr addressing Israeli violations of international laws and conventions, including the state sovereignty. He emphasised the two-state solution and the need to expand international recognition of the Palestinian state.
The two sides stressed the importance of strengthening diplomatic efforts to support peaceful solutions to restore stability.

His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs continued his series of intensive telephone calls with his counterparts in sisterly and friendly countries, with the aim of mobilizing political and legal pressure to halt the Israeli aggression.

The calls addressed the need to mobilize international efforts to address Israel’s violations of international law, which threaten to exacerbate the regional crisis, while emphasizing that diplomatic solutions remain the only path to achieving security and peace.

These ongoing efforts reflect the Sultanate of Oman’s commitment to its unwavering, supportive stance for peace, which is based on rational, purposeful dialogue and the application of justice without exception – in accordance with the principles of international law – to preserve global stability, regional security, and opportunities for prosperity and progress for all.
