MUSCAT : The tender has been floated on the General Secretariat of the Tender Board’s website, with bid documents available from today until June 12. The deadline for submissions is June 18.

The Muttrah Square project first captured public attention when it won the top prize in the inaugural Bilarab bin Haitham Award for Architectural Design on March 15, 2022. The visionary design, created by Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jahdhami, Umaima bint Mahmoud Al Hana’i, and Abdullah bin Saleh Al Bahri, is inspired by the sword of Imam Al Salt bin Malik Al Kharousi. It features a pedestrian bridge shaped like a soaring bird, connecting land to sea and framing Muttrah’s historic landmarks in a single visual masterpiece.

Located directly opposite the Muttrah Fish Market, the 7,500-square-metre square is set to become a new cultural and tourist attraction. At its heart lies the 64-meter bridge, extending into the sea and designed to meet top safety standards while offering panoramic views of the waterfront.

The square will include a multi-use plaza with retail outlets, cafes, and a signature dancing fountain. The surrounding area will be richly landscaped with walking paths, seating zones, palm and flowering trees, and a central circular fountain—aimed at creating a lively community hub.

The tender covers comprehensive works including civil, architectural and structural construction, full landscaping, rainwater drainage systems, and operational services. It also requires high-resolution 4K documentation of all project stages.
