Washington: The dollar index, which gauges the greenback’s strength against six major currencies including the yen and euro, held steady at 99.159 after showing early weakness. The dollar dipped 0.09 percent to trade at 143.82 yen in the morning session, reflecting investor unease.
Meanwhile, the euro edged up by 0.13 percent to $1.1385, buoyed by broader dollar softness. The Australian dollar remained relatively flat at $0.6460 as traders awaited the country’s latest GDP report for further cues.
In Asia, the South Korean won saw modest gains, strengthening about 0.2 percent to 1,375.25 per dollar following Lee Jae-myung’s victory in the presidential election—an outcome viewed as a stabilizing signal for regional markets.
