Geneva – The symbolic artwork, a gift from His Highness, reflects the depth of relations between Oman and the Organisation. The plaque artistically portrays three central themes: Oman’s historical civilisation, natural diversity, and its vision for a prosperous future.

Created under the supervision of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, and with the participation of the Omani Society for Arts, affiliated with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, the plaque reflects institutional cooperation and affirms Oman’s active presence in international forums through arts and culture.

His Excellency Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, emphasised that the initiative reflects Oman’s commitment to fostering cultural dialogue and strengthening its global partnerships through artistic expression. He praised His Highness Sayyid Bilarab’s leadership in championing the arts as a bridge for international communication.

His Excellency Sayyid Said bin Sultan Al Busaidi, Undersecretary for Culture at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, described the plaque as a cultural and civilisational statement aligning with Oman Vision 2040 and showcasing the creativity of young Omani artists on a global stage.

His Excellency Ambassador Idris bin Abdulrahman Al Khanjari, Oman’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva, noted the cultural and diplomatic significance of the artwork, which now hangs in the “Salle des Pas Perdus” at the WTO—a historic space known for its celebration of multilateralism and art.

The plaque, painted by Omani artist Salem bin Khamis Al Salami, was selected through a national art competition involving six artists over an eight-month period. It now stands as a lasting symbol of Oman’s heritage, artistic talent, and international engagement.
