MUSCAT : Speaking at the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism workshop, Her Excellency highlighted a unified vision with the governors, stressing that “our interactive work must be based on coordinated plans, not on emergency reactions.”
The workshop, titled “Addressing the Challenges of Governance of Heritage and Tourism Development Management with the Governorates,” served as a platform for Her Excellency to underscore the importance of a clear system of roles and shared strategic objectives. “We are in complete agreement with the governors, and there is an ongoing partnership that facilitates the development of a clear system of roles,” Her Excellency Al Zari stated.
She further elaborated that the effectiveness of Riyada’s support is directly proportional to the clarity of plans originating from the governorates. “The more the governorates have a clear plan for initiatives and events, the greater and more effective our preparedness as an institution will be,” she explained.
A central challenge identified was the current lack of shared annual plans between various government bodies. “We submit our annual plan to the Council of Ministers early, and so do the governors, but these plans are rarely shared between us,” Al Zari noted. She stressed that “Exchanging plans and harmonising them between the two parties at the beginning of each year will greatly accelerate achievement and improve response to needs.”
Her Excellency also addressed specific challenges faced by small and medium enterprises (SMEs) within the tourism sector, particularly in governorates lacking readily available projects. She asserted that “The more project governance is accelerated and responsibilities are clearly defined, the more realistic the growth of small and medium enterprises in the governorates will become.”
