Muscat – Under the theme “Our Children’s Safety in the Internet Space”, the ROP has outlined key measures that parents and guardians can implement to create a secure and nurturing online environment for young users.
The advisory, describing parental control as ‘safe fortress’ for children in cyberspace, outlines the following strategies for parents to implement:
• Determining Content Type: Choose appropriate online content and assist them in identifying and avoiding harmful or misleading material.
• Determining Usage Times: Set or limit the time children spend online.
• Teaching Safe Behaviour: Guide children on how to deal with potential risks they might encounter on the internet.
• Monitoring Activities: Understand children’s behaviour and monitor any changes in their digital activities or interactions.
The ROP’s message concludes with a powerful reminder: “You are all responsible for their care.”
