MUSCAT : The inspection tours targeted a wide range of commercial activities, including restaurants, cafes, fish grilling stalls, herbal shops, and meat vendors in various areas of the city.
In Salalah’s central market, two food establishments were shut down after inspectors found substandard cleanliness and a lack of compliance with basic health requirements. Several additional violations were recorded against other businesses in the area.
Herbal shops also came under scrutiny, with four outlets closed for selling expired products and failing to meet licensing and documentation requirements.
Inspections were also carried out in New Salalah, focusing on shawarma outlets and mishkak (meat grill) restaurants, resulting in the closure of three establishments due to poor hygiene and health violations. Additional violations were issued to several other vendors.
In the Qayrun Hirati area, three more establishments were closed for similar non-compliance with health standards and public hygiene regulations. The municipality confirmed that necessary follow-up measures are underway.
Dhofar Municipality reiterated its commitment to protecting public health and food safety, emphasizing that inspection campaigns will continue throughout the governorate. Business owners are urged to strictly adhere to all approved health regulations to avoid legal action.
