MUSCAT: Oman has temporarily halted the operation of its coronavirus tracing app Tarassud Plus.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Health on Friday said the application has been temporarily suspended for maintenance purpose.

Tarassud Plus is a system that combines a mobile application using artificial intelligence with enhanced features that include up to date COVID-19 statistics, guidelines and best practices to prevent the spread of infection.

The system is available in English, Arabic, Urdu, Hindi and Bengali. Tarassud Plus offers patients access to medical hotlines and support staff who direct them to facilities where they can be treated for their reported symptoms.

Once patients are diagnosed, a medical tracking bracelet connected to the application ensures that they stay at home for the duration of their quarantine or isolation.

Oman on Friday confirmed 354 new coronavirus cases, taking the total tally to 81,067.
