MUSCAT : The Authority will also maintain the fixed prices for electricity consumption units for 2025 without any changes. The move is designed to ease the financial burden on consumers during the hottest period of the year, when electricity demand typically peaks due to widespread air-conditioning use.
During May, the discounts will be distributed as follows: subscribers in the first segment (consumption between 0 and 4000 kWh) will receive a 15 percent discount on the bill value, while subscribers in the second segment (consumption between 4001 and 6000 kWh) will receive a 10 percent discount. A 5 percent discount will be applied to subscribers in the third segment (consumption exceeding 6001 kWh).
For the months of June, July, and August, the discount rates will increase to 20 percent for the first segment, 15 percent for the second segment, and 10 percent for the third segment.
In addition, the Authority has directed licensed electricity companies not to disconnect services for subscribers in the basic residential category during the summer period. The Authority has also enabled customers to pay bills in instalments, in accordance with its approved regulatory framework, ensuring continued access to electricity even in cases of delayed payments.
The Authority urges those who meet the conditions to register their data in the National Support System to benefit from the package of facilities and incentives provided.
