Saudi, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain hail Oman for hosting Iran-US talks

GCC countries hope that the talks will lead to supporting joint action to enhance security, stability and peace in the region and the world.

MUSCAT: The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) hailed Oman for successfully hosting the high-stake meeting between the United States and Iran on Saturday.

According to state-owned Oman News Agency, Foreign Ministers of Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain spoke to Oman’s Foreign Minister His Excellency Sayyid Badr Al Busaidi and praised the Sultanate’s efforts in mediating the talks.

Both the countries said they held “positive” and “constructive” talks in Oman and agreed to reconvene next week in a dialogue meant to address Tehran’s nuclear programme.

The White House called the talks involving Trump’s Middle East envoy Steven Witkoff, U.S. Ambassador to Oman Ana Escrogima and Araqchi “very positive and constructive.”
