MUSCAT: In an interview with the Oman News Agency (ONA), His Excellency Sayyid Badr said the visit is the first by an Omani Sultan to the People’s Republic of China and represents an important step towards advancing bilateral relations through cooperation based on mutual interests and respect.
He said the visit reflects Oman’s open foreign policy and its commitment to building diverse and balanced partnerships with international partners.
Omani-Chinese relations are rooted in a long history of cultural exchange and mutual understanding and have developed steadily over recent decades, responding to political changes and emerging economic and trade opportunities, he added.
Highlighting China’s position as a major economic and trade partner for Oman, the Foreign Minister said both countries are seeking to expand cooperation in investment, industry and technology to generate added value for the national economy.
Key areas of cooperation include energy, advanced industries, logistics, knowledge transfer and capacity building. These efforts align with Oman’s broader strategy to diversify its economic partnerships and strengthen the resilience and sustainability of its economy.
His Excellency Sayyid Badr noted that bilateral relations extend beyond economic cooperation to include consultations and exchanges of views on regional and international issues.
He said Oman remains committed to promoting dialogue, peaceful political solutions, respect for international law and multilateral cooperation, guided by a foreign policy based on balance, constructive neutrality and mutual trust.
The minister also highlighted the shared interests and political will of both countries to translate existing cooperation into practical projects and tangible initiatives involving government institutions, the private sector and universities.
Such efforts, he said, reflect Oman’s pragmatic approach to international relations, with an emphasis on practical outcomes and mutually beneficial partnerships.
His Excellency Sayyid Badr expressed confidence that His Majesty the Sultan’s visit would open new avenues for the strategic partnership, strengthen cooperation in areas of shared interest and contribute to broader efforts to promote peace, stability and development.
