Riyadh – The League denounced the orders, calling it ‘systematic violations’ targeting the UN agencies, relief organizations, and resolutions related to the rights of the Palestinian people, both politically and militarily.

In a statement, the League’s General Secretariat renewed its support and solidarity with UNRWA in its humanitarian mission to support the Palestinian people. It urged concerted efforts from all countries and organisations to stand against the ongoing Israeli barbarism, which violates all international and humanitarian laws and norms.

The League also stressed that every living conscience around the world calls for an end to the Israeli government’s war machine and the enforcement of international and humanitarian law regarding this brutal genocide being perpetrated against Palestinian civilians in full view of the international community.

In a separate context, the Executive Board of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) adopted, at its 221st session on Friday, April 11, a resolution to support the educational activities of the UNRWA in the occupied Palestinian territory.

The resolution also affirmed UNESCO’s commitment to supporting UNRWA and continuing its work and mandate, particularly in the field of education, which is one of the core pillars of UNESCO’s work.

Fifty-one countries out of 58 member states voted in favour of the resolution, two countries abstained, two were absent, and three countries opposed the resolution.

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the decision, noting that it has important implications for supporting the UNRWA and strengthening the long-standing and shared cooperation between UNESCO and UNRWA.
