SAUDI ARABIA: Led by His Excellency Nasr bin Khamis Al-Sawai, Attorney General, Oman’s delegation actively participated in discussions during a workshop titled “Artificial Intelligence and Criminal Justice – The Authority of Investigation Procedures.” The workshop delved into the nature and applications of AI, its transformative impact on criminal justice, and the role of AI-powered tools in investigation procedures.
Oman presented its groundbreaking “virtual crime scene” initiative, a cutting-edge technology that leverages AI to lift traces and evidence from crime scenes. This innovation enhances evidence analysis, connects findings, and provides real-time support through a dedicated assistance center, enabling rapid access to precise data. Furthermore, the virtual crime scene allows courts to visualize crime scenes with remarkable accuracy during trials.
The Public Prosecution also showcased advanced AI tools used to streamline criminal investigations, including analyzing case files, identifying gaps, summarizing cases, and proposing critical questions to investigators. These tools can detect contradictions in statements, support evidence validation, and even translate or digitize oral and photographed documents. The technology recommends optimal legal actions, ensuring efficient use of time and resources while elevating the accuracy of investigations.
