Sheikh Mohammed announces new UAE Ministry of Family

A new ministry for family affairs has been formed in the UAE to empower families, strengthen their cohesion and stability.

DUBAI: In a significant move to strengthen family cohesion and empower Emirati households, the UAE has established the Ministry of Family Affairs. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, made the announcement on Sunday, naming Sanaa Suhail as the Minister.

“The family is a national priority, the cornerstone of progress, and a guarantee for the nation’s future,” Sheikh Mohammed emphasized.

The Ministry of Family will lead comprehensive efforts to build stable, cohesive families and tackle pressing societal issues. Its responsibilities include:

Implementing programmes to raise fertility rates among Emirati families.

Supporting marriage readiness and managing marriage grants.

Promoting parenting skills and work-life balance.

Protecting vulnerable groups and ensuring children’s holistic well-being.

Licensing and regulating social service providers.

Sanaa Suhail brings extensive experience in early childhood, family advocacy, and community work. The establishment of the new ministry aligns with directives from UAE President Sheikh Mohamed, focusing on comprehensive programmes to enhance family formation and stability.
