Over 18,000 arrested for labour law violations

Saudi authorities have detained 18,489 individuals in a weeklong nationwide crackdown targeting violations of residency, labour, and border security laws, according to the Ministry of Interior

Riyadh: Between November 28 and December 4, joint security operations, coordinated with multiple government agencies, led to the arrests. Of those apprehended, 10,824 individuals were found in violation of residency regulations, while 4,638 faced charges related to border security. A further 3,027 people were arrested for breaching labour laws.

Among the detainees, 1,125 were caught attempting to cross into Saudi Arabia illegally. A significant portion of these individuals were identified as Yemeni (42%) and Ethiopian nationals (56%), with the remaining 2% coming from various other countries. Additionally, 57 people were detained while attempting to leave the Kingdom unlawfully.
