MUSCAT: The coronavirus death toll surged past 240 in Oman after eight people died on Friday. The Sultanate also recorded the highest number of infections, taking the total to 53,614.
According to the data provided by the Ministry of Health, 59 people have died in the last 10 days in the country. Of the total 244 people died, 126 are expats and 118 are Omanis. Meanwhile, 501 infected cases are admitted in hospital, while 130 are in ICU.
In the last 10 days, 13,544 people have been infected with coronavirus in the country.

Across all the governorates, the coronavirus cases continue to increase. The total infections registered in Muscat Governorate touched 32,060 after 892 new cases were reported. Total cases in North Al Batinah reached 6279 after 180 people were diagnosed with the virus on Friday. Dhofar Governorate registered a total of 1752 cases.
