MUSCAT : Gold prices reached a peak of $2,758.37 per ounce on Wednesday, driven by investors seeking stability in uncertain times. Though prices have slightly eased, gold is up 0.2 percent this week as global buyers continue to hedge against market volatility. The sustained increase in gold prices reflects investor caution amid growing geopolitical risks and the unresolved U.S. election scenario.
The precious metals market saw mixed results, with palladium dipping 2.1 percent to $1,133 an ounce after hitting a 10-month high yesterday. Despite the dip, palladium remains up by 5 percent since Monday. Silver, meanwhile, slipped by 0.7 percent to $33.46 an ounce after reaching its highest level in over a decade earlier this week. Platinum also recorded a decline, closing down 1.3 percent at $1,013.30.
