New York – During the meeting, H.E. Guterres commended Oman’s commitment to promoting peace and security under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik. He acknowledged the Sultanate’s efforts to foster dialogue and multilateral cooperation both regionally and globally.
Oman’s Foreign Affairs Minister expressed his appreciation to H.E. Guterres for his wise management of the UN and his unwavering support for justice, international law, and humanitarian principles.
The two leaders engaged in discussions on critical regional matters, including the ongoing situations in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon. They emphasised the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire and strategies to mitigate military escalations in these areas, highlighting the importance of collaborative efforts to restore stability and peace in the region.
