NEW YORK: At the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, His Excellency Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Oman’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, reaffirmed the Sultanate’s commitment to fostering peace, stability, and cooperation across the Arab world. His engagements covered pressing issues in Sudan, Palestine, Slovenia, Tunisia, and Syria.
During his meeting with Sudan’s Foreign Minister Hussein Awad Ali, His Excellency emphasized Oman’s steadfast position in supporting a unified Sudan free from foreign interference. He stressed the importance of a Sudanese-led dialogue to secure peace and stability, underscoring that the well-being of the Sudanese people must come first. Both ministers agreed on the urgent need to strengthen internal dialogue to pave the way for Sudan’s return to economic and social development.
Minister Ali expressed Sudan’s appreciation for Oman’s supportive role in promoting stability in the region and praised the strong ties between the two nations.

In a separate meeting with Palestinian Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Dr. Mohammed Mustafa, His Excellency discussed the developments in the Palestinian cause, highlighting the growing international support for Palestinian rights. Both sides explored ways to enhance joint coordination and reinforce Palestinian resilience in their pursuit of statehood, with East Jerusalem as the capital. Dr. Mustafa expressed his deep appreciation for Oman’s unwavering support for Palestine on the global stage.
Oman’s diplomatic efforts also extended to Europe, as His Excellency held talks with Slovenian Deputy Prime Minister Tanja Fajon. The two ministers reviewed bilateral relations, focusing on boosting economic, trade, and tourism ties. They stressed the importance of regular political consultations and coordination in international forums and looked forward to further strengthening cooperation between Oman and Slovenia.
In addition, His Excellency met with Tunisian Foreign Minister Mohamed Ali Nafti and Syrian Foreign Minister Bassam Sabbagh. Both meetings underscored Oman’s long-standing ties with Tunisia and Syria, with a focus on enhancing collaboration in cultural, educational, and economic fields. The ministers reiterated their shared goals of promoting regional peace and stability through dialogue and diplomacy.
