MUSCAT: The Government Communication Centre (GC) on Sunday clarified that a worker at an oil company who was reportedly suspected of showing symptoms of Covid-19 has tested negative.
A message on social media app WhatsApp went viral which stated that a worker at a site related to an oil company is a suspected case of Covid-19 and that he was in contact with 29 staff in the site. However, GCC in a statement issued online said: “A case of Corona virus ( COVID-19) was suspected with a worker at a site related to an oil company which immediately implemented the procedures recommended by the Ministry of Health.”
According to GC, the worker was sent to a special institutional quarantine, while the other workers were sent to another institutional quarantine. “After examining the suspected case it appeared that the worker was not infected with coronavirus (COVID-19),” GC confirmed.
