MUSCAT: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will not conduct any more examinations for the class 10 and 12 students studying across the Indian Schools in Oman, due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Earlier, the CBSE board postponed the examinations till March 31 following Covid-19 pandemic across the globe.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, CBSE has clarified that the board will instead come out a system of marking/assessment for the purpose of “declaring results will be worked out by the Board shortly and will be informed to these schools.”

According to CBSE, holding a different set of exams for the 25 counties outside India including Oman will be difficult. “ Each of these countries is also under lockdown and/or has decided to close down the schools for various and differential lengths of time. Under such circumstances, it is felt that the Board will not be in a position to hold a differential set of exams for each of these countries. Also, in the present situation, it will be difficult to bring the answer books to India for evaluation purposes. The system of marking/assessment for the purpose of declaring results will be worked out by the Board shortly and informed to these schools,” the statement added.
Speaking to The Arabian Stories, a senior Indian Schools Board welcomed the move. “It’s a sigh of relief for these students. Despite these current challenging health situation, they were preparing for the exams. I am sure the CBSE will find a solution soon,” he said
