MUSCAT: His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Al Saidi, Minister of Health has insisted any plans to introduce a curfew across the country would be a “last resort”.

“If the Supreme Committee deems it necessary to apply a curfew, which is the last resort for us, it will be announced in due course. However, at present, we prefer people staying at home.”

Speaking to Arabic radio channel Shabiba FM, the Minister said the government will not hesitate to take more drastic measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Oman has already introduced a number of strict measures aimed at bringing the spread of the virus under control, including closing all schools and universities, shopping malls, shops, public gatherings and suspending all flights to and from the country.
