Avoid travelling to coronavirus-hit countries, says Oman’s Ministry of Health

As of February 22, 2020, 76,769 cases have been reported worldwide of which 75,569, including 2,247 deaths, are in China.

MUSCAT: Ministry of Health (MOH)has advised citizens and residents to avoid travelling to coronavirus hit countries. Much is still unknown about the outbreak, however, MOH said it will quarantine (home all international travellers coming from countries where coronavirus have been reported.

“In light of the wide geographical area of ​​the emerging epidemic of Coronavirus disease at the global and regional levels that included many countries, the Ministry of Health recommends citizens and residents to avoid traveling to countries where cases of Coronavirus 2019 have been recorded,” a senior official at MOH said.

MOH has urged the travellers coming from the countries in which the epidemic has been reported, particularly China, South Korea, Japan, Singapore and Iran during the past 14 days to contact the MOH Contact Centre in order to guide them with regard to the quarantine and the other precautionary measures. However, the Ministry has also clarified that the quarantine will not be applicable to those travellers coming from Middle East countries such as UAE, Egypt and Lebanon.

As of February 22, 2020, 76,769 cases have been reported worldwide of which 75,569, including 2,247 deaths, are in China.

The Ministry also urged all citizens and residents not to pay attention to rumours and unverified information.
