Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has accepted an invitation from US President Donald Trump to visit the White House, a statement issued by the US State Department said.
The message from Trump was conveyed to His Majesty by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo during his one-day visit to the Sultanate on Friday and Sultan Haitham accepted the invitation, according to State Department.
During his visit, Pompeo expressed his condolences on the passing of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos and said the United States would continue its strong partnership with Oman.

Pompeo and Sultan Haitham also discussed the importance of regional security cooperation with the Gulf Cooperation Council to advance prosperity, security, and stability in the region.
