Muscat: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) urge people to renew their car insurance and registration on time to avoid being fined or have their cars confiscated.

“If the motorist is found to be using a vehicle without valid insurance and registration, the ROP is within its rights under the law to seize the vehicle from its owner,” said an official at ROP.

“We have had many instances of people driving vehicles without renewing their insurance and that is dangerous especially when they meet with an accident,” said the official.

According to the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), 1.5mn vehicle insurance policies were registered in 2018.
