MUSCAT : Companies seeking to register for Excise Tax are required to have the Customs Registration Number (CRN) issued by the Directorate General of Customs and the Import-Export License.

For registration of goods under Excise Tax, the Authority requires the following:

  • Registration at the online portal
  • Commercial Registry (CR)
  • Submission of a request to add an excise good

    Here is how to register for Excise Tax:
  1. Open the online portal
  2. Log in by using an ID card reader or Digital Certification (SIM card)
  3. Select Taxpayer Registration
  4. Enter the commercial registration number, and then click ‘Register’
  5. Select Registration Type and then Continue
  6. Fill all mandatory fields, Save Draft and Submit
  7. A request for confirmation will appear – click ‘Yes’
  8. Click Submit and then check the status for approval.
