Muscat: As many as 29 people died due to seasonal influenza commonly known as flue in Oman in one year, according to the Ministry of Health (MOH).
Oman’s Ministry of Health (MoH) has confirmed that there were 2,726 laboratory confirmed cases during the period.
In a statement issued online, MOH said
there was a decrease in the number of cases registered from June to September 2019 at 291 as compared to 992 cases in the same period of 2018.

Increase in infection cases were reported in Dhofar, South Sharqiyah and Musandam in September 2019.
The ministry recommends taking seasonal vaccines for the most vulnerable groups such as healthcare workers, pregnant women, the elderly (65 years and above), and patients with chronic conditions such as respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, kidney and liver disorders, and diabetes.
