Muscat: The statistics issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information indicated that private vehicles – totaling 1,294,252 – accounted for about 79.6 percent of the total number of vehicles registered in the country; the number of commercially registered vehicles reached 237,621 by the end of June 2023.
Total number of taxis was 27,983; rental vehicles was 30,856; and government-registered vehicles was 11,832, while the number of motor cycles reached 6,758.
The number of driving training vehicles reached 5,564, the number of vehicles with temporary registration (numbers that are used for a short period for pre-registration examination purposes and for export and import vehicles) reached 8,556; the number of agricultural tractors reached 1,275, and the number of vehicles of political entities reached 844.
In terms of vehicle weights, the number of vehicles with a weight of less than 3 tons reached 1,467,675, while the number of vehicles weighing more than 10 tons reached 71,931 vehicles. Vehicles with a weight of 3 to 7 tons reached 47,865, and vehicles with a weight of 7 to 10 tons reached 38,070.
