MUSCAT: The requirements apply whether the prospective spouse is Omani or non-Omani, in accordance with Royal Decree No. 111/2025, which requires both parties to undergo premarital medical examinations before the marriage contract is concluded.
The ministry said all prescribed laboratory tests for hereditary blood disorders and infectious diseases must be conducted at a health institution accredited in the country where the examination takes place.
Medical examination results must be certified by the health institution that conducted the tests, the competent health authority in that country and Oman’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
To obtain a premarital medical examination certificate, applicants must visit a government health institution accredited by Oman’s Ministry of Health. The institution will verify and document the test results and provide premarital medical counselling.
The ministry said this procedure will remain in place until the premarital medical examination service is activated on the electronic health platform.
