MUSCAT : A total of 5,148 flights operated through the airport during the three-month period, while the number of arriving passengers reached 355,045 across 2,561 inbound flights, marking a 4 per cent increase compared with last year.

Passenger traffic rose sharply as the season progressed. Salalah Airport handled 92,735 passengers in June, increasing to 236,088 in July before reaching 357,985 passengers in August.

Flight movements followed a similar trend, rising from 957 arriving and departing flights in June to 1,854 flights in July and 2,337 flights in August.

Hamed bin Ahmed Al Barashdi, Official Spokesperson for the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), said the figures recorded during the 2026 Dhofar Khareef season reflected the growth in travel demand and the importance of coordination among various components of the aviation sector to efficiently manage the increase in passengers and flights.

Speaking to the Oman News Agency, Al Barashdi said the CAA, through its regulatory and supervisory role, continues to provide the necessary framework to support the growth of air traffic while monitoring aviation safety requirements and ensuring the smooth flow of air traffic.

The Authority also supervises air navigation and meteorological services and coordinates with various entities operating within the sector to strengthen the efficiency of Oman’s air transport system and its ability to respond to growing demand.

Al Barashdi added that enhancing the efficiency and capacity of the civil aviation sector remains a priority, noting that air transport is one of the main enablers of tourism, supports wider economic activity and strengthens connectivity between Oman’s governorates and regional and international destinations.
