MUSCAT: Nearly two-thirds of adults in Oman are overweight or obese, with the latest national health survey putting the figure at 64.7 percent, the Ministry of Health said.
The findings were revealed in the 2025 National Survey of Non-Communicable Diseases and Associated Risk Factors, highlighting the prevalence of excess weight among the country’s adult population.
The ministry urged people to pay greater attention to maintaining a healthy weight and making healthier lifestyle choices as part of efforts to reduce the risk of non-communicable diseases.

It said even simple steps towards achieving a healthier weight can make a significant difference to a person’s long-term health and wellbeing.
The survey forms part of Oman’s efforts to track major health indicators and risk factors associated with non-communicable diseases and support preventive healthcare initiatives across the country.
