MUSCAT : The campaign is led by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology in cooperation with the Office of the Governor of Dhofar, Dhofar Municipality, Ministry of Information, Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, Environment Authority, Oman Airports and other partners.

The initiative aims to strengthen a culture of sustainability and innovation while improving quality of life in Dhofar. It will encourage young people and national talent to develop new ideas and initiatives while strengthening cooperation between government bodies, the private sector, academic institutions and entrepreneurs.

Abdullah bin Ali Al Busaidi, Director General of the Oman Logistics Center, said the campaign complements the Ministry’s wider efforts to promote green mobility practices across the Sultanate.

He said its launch was timed to coincide with the second edition of the Gulf Green Forum in Salalah, reinforcing Oman’s efforts to adopt sustainable solutions within the transport sector.

Al Busaidi said the campaign also seeks to encourage different sections of society to play a direct role in developing initiatives that can contribute to a more sustainable future for Dhofar.

Citizens, visitors, investors and entrepreneurs will be able to submit their ideas and proposals through the “Amed” platform, which was launched alongside the campaign to receive initiatives focused on logistical and digital sustainability.

Promising local ideas will be supported with the objective of transforming them into viable and investable projects. The campaign will also establish a database of innovators and entrepreneurs that can support future sustainability initiatives in the governorate.

The programme is expected to create long-term partnerships, increase public awareness of sustainability issues and generate new projects aligned with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.

The initiative also comes as Oman continues to expand its wider green transport agenda. The Ministry has previously implemented initiatives covering electric mobility, alternative fuels and emissions reduction as part of the country’s push towards sustainable transport and net-zero objectives.
