MUSCAT : The municipality said speed bumps must be installed through approved procedures and in coordination with the relevant authorities to ensure they are suitable for the location and meet required safety standards.

Approved speed bumps must comply with specified dimensions and technical requirements, while warning and directional signs must be installed in advance to alert motorists.

The municipality also said speed bumps should be marked with reflective paint in approved colours to ensure they are clearly visible to drivers, particularly in low-visibility conditions.

The location of each speed bump must be approved following an assessment of traffic density and the needs of the area before installation.

Muscat Municipality stressed that proper coordination with the relevant authorities is essential to ensure that traffic-calming measures improve safety rather than create additional hazards for motorists and other road users.
