MUSCAT: According to a statement from the Consumer Protection Authority (CPA), the judgment followed a consumer’s complaint against the establishment, which had been contracted to provide a wedding buffet, including main dishes, appetisers, beverages and service supplies. The consumer had also made an advance payment under the agreement.
However, the establishment failed to provide the contracted service on the agreed date, prompting the consumer to seek legal redress. The court convicted the defendant of failing to provide the service properly and in a manner consistent with its nature. It imposed a RO 300 fine, with execution of the penalty suspended, and ordered the establishment to bear the legal costs.
