MUSCAT: Oman’s Basic Services Sector has stepped up precautionary measures in Masirah and Duqm to ensure the continuity of essential services as authorities respond to the impact of marine oil pollution affecting parts of the country’s coastline.
Dr. Mansoor bin Talib Al Hinai, Chairman of the Authority for Public Services Regulation and Head of the Basic Services Sector, conducted a field visit to Masirah in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate and Duqm in Al Wusta Governorate on Saturday to review preparedness and response measures.
The visit focused on measures being implemented by the water and waste management sectors as part of efforts to maintain essential services and address potential disruptions arising from the oil pollution.

Al Hinai held a series of meetings with officials and reviewed precautionary procedures put in place to ensure the continuity of water, waste management and other basic services in line with the requirements of the situation.
Authorities have been intensifying response and monitoring efforts in areas potentially affected by the marine oil pollution, with government agencies working to limit its impact on coastal areas and essential services.
